Meet Dr. Leila Javidi, MD/MPH
Hi! I’m Dr. Leila Javidi, a proud Cleveland native and Ohio State alum (Go Buckeyes!). You can call me Dr. Javidi, Dr. J or Dr. Leila if you like. After earning my MD and a Master’s in Public Health in Epidemiology at St. George’s University, I completed a public health internship at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a Family Medicine Residency at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s in Columbus, Ohio. I am board certified in Family Medicine. Since 2016, I’ve been a practicing primary care physician and previously cared for patients at Family Physicians of Gahanna. Beyond patient care, I love teaching and had the privilege of consulting on medical school curriculum with MedSchoolTutors (now Blueprint). Advocacy is my passion—I’m on a mission to take corporate interests out of healthcare and put patients first. Fair warning: you may come across me on Tik Tok or Instagram ranting about the healthcare system, cracking jokes, doing my makeup, and educating on a wide variety of medical and public health topics. I call Columbus home, where I share my life with two Ragdoll cats, Herm and Wilma. When I’m not working, you’ll find me championing evidence-based medicine, exploring new teaching opportunities, or spending quality time with my furry companions.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care is an alternative and innovative model of healthcare whereby your access to your own physician is expanded. Simply put, patients directly pay a yearly or monthly fee for access to their physician instead of a physician submitting a claim to insurance for each visit. This elimination of the insurance middle man eliminates the administrative burdens that create mutually unbeneficial relationships between Physicians and their Patients.
When will your clinic be open?
Early 2025, I will start seeing patients via telehealth and as needed home visits. But have no fear, I WILL have a brick and mortar office which is currently under construction and will be located in Gahanna, Ohio in the newly developing area on the corner of Hamilton Road and Tech Center Drive. If this sounds familiar, it is because it is in walking distance to my previous office! I wanted to make sure to be accessible to any former patients of mine that I would be lucky to have in my patient panel.
Do I still have to have insurance?
This is not a replacement for health insurance. Your health insurance can and should be used for referrals, imaging, labs, emergency room visits and hospital stays. If you have commercial insurance, you may be able to submit an itemized bill for reimbursement, but it will depend on your plan as to whether or not it is reimbursed. This cannot be done with Gov't insurance including Medicare/Medicaid/TriCare. While I would love us all to be rid of the need for health insurance, this is NOT a substitution.
