FAQs
What about services I don’t see listed?
While we’ve done our best to make a complete list of our services, it’s difficult to mention every single thing that we’re able to offer. If you’re curious about a certain service, you can reach out to us via our contact form on this website or send us an email at info@rebelandthrive.com. Or, better yet, schedule a Meet + Greet and we can chat in real-time!
Will I pay extra for any of these services?
No, for the most part, all of your care with us is included in your membership fee. Our Essential tier is designed to include all the essentials—it’s right there in the name!—so nothing that is traditionally part of necessary primary care would be excluded at this level. Our Amplified and Extensive tiers are built to include some additional services that go beyond the essentials, and some of these are available a la carte (e.g. home visits are not included in Essential memberships but are available with an extra charge).
Where do services take place?
As we wait for our physical location to be completed, a lot of our interactions take place in virtual appointments. If we need to be in the same room for a certain service, we can often arrange to meet somewhere convenient or schedule a home visit. Once our physical location is open, some appointments will continue to be virtual, but you’ll also be able to come into the office when you need or want to!
How is direct primary care different from what I’m used to?
Logistically, direct primary care only really differs from the care you’re used to receiving from your PCP in one important way: we bypass insurance entirely. As your PCP, I won’t bill insurance for any of the services I provide. Referrals, procedures, prescriptions, etc. will all continue to flow through your insurance the way they always have, but your Rebel + Thrive care will be paid via subscription.
However, you’ll likely notice a big difference in the level of care you receive and how much access you have to your provider with DPC. Working within the insurance-driven model of primary care, doctors often have huge case loads and struggle to provide meaningful care to their patients. With DPC, you’ll be able to see your doctor more often, for longer, and with—hopefully—a lot less frustration!
Who is direct primary care for?
At Rebel + Thrive, we’ve built care with a certain kind of person in mind, but it isn’t dependent on health status, history, or diagnosis. Instead, we’ve built our services for people who are tired of dealing with the broken healthcare system and want healthcare, not just sick-care.
Having a chronic condition, multiple specialists, or any other factor won’t disqualify you for Rebel + Thrive. However, the service we’ve built isn’t for everyone. During our meet and greets, we’re committed to being transparent, and we’ll let you know if we don’t think it’ll be a good fit.
Are there any hidden fees?
Short answer: No.
Longer answer: With your membership fee (paid either monthly, quarterly, or annually), you’ll receive access to appointments, prescriptions, communications with Dr. Leila, and more. While there are some differences between our membership levels, you’ll have access to comprehensive primary care, no matter what level of membership you have. The only additional costs are for home visits (if not included in your membership level) and a la carte services.
What makes direct primary care a better option?
To be honest, DPC might not be worth the cost for some people. If you don’t have much interest in working with a doctor beyond what your typical PCP provides, the membership cost might not be worth it. However, if you’re interested in diving more deeply into your health and desire to have a true partnership with your provider, then direct primary care is probably the answer you’ve been looking for.
